Seafood Restaurants Near Me Serving Up the Best Boils

We’re experiencing highly unusual and strange times. The governor has ordered us to stay home closing restaurants, gyms, and other places we like to gather.  But our life continues with the arrival of birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates. Moreover, there’s no reason to put off celebrating just because you can’t eat at your favorite restaurant.  Bring the experience home by ordering online! If you’re searching for seafood restaurants near me with home delivery or curbside pickup, choose Crazy Crab Seafood & Grill.

At Crazy Crab Seafood & Grill, we bring fresh seafood with a taste of Cajun to the Piedmont area. Our menu is our 15-year effort of traveling and sampling dishes throughout the southeast, from Louisiana, through the low country and up to the North Carolina beaches. We picked our favorite recipes. Then we put our own unique twist on them, testing and tweaking until we perfected them. The result is our extensive menu, a unique blend of America’s favorites, tantalizing Cajun, and delicious seafood.

While fresh seafood is our specialty, we understand not everyone likes fish. That’s why we also serve great tasting wings and several kinds of hamburgers. Of course, we have a large variety of seafood options including Dungeness crab, blue crab and fried fish. Currently, we’re offering lunch and dinner at Big Tree Way and New Garden Greensboro locations and at Winston Salem. You can choose curbside pickup or have it delivered right to your door.

There is No Evidence to Suggest the Transmission of the Coronavirus through Food Service

During this time of uncertainty, there’s a lot of misinformation about catching COVID-19. The CDC has found no evidence to support the transmission of COVID-19 through food. Moreover, there is very little risk of spreading the coronavirus through food packaging. Coronaviruses have poor survivability on these surfaces. Thus, ordering take-out does not increase your risk of catching the virus.

Typically, the food service industry follows strict public health guidelines to operate under normal conditions. However, due to the COVID-19 quarantines, we have instituted additional measures to ensure our customers’ safety. We frequently sanitize and disinfect all surfaces in our restaurants. In particular, we thoroughly clean and sanitize the kitchen areas where food preparation takes place. Additionally, we require all staff members to wash their hands frequently.

We look forward to the day when we can serve you again in our nautical-themed restaurants. Once this happens, we will be opening up our dining rooms again. When this time arrives, we will continue to follow strict guidelines and best practices to ensure your safety.

The Cajun People Who Started the Craze

Some of our signature dishes, like jambalaya, are Cajun classics. Cajun cooking has its own unique flavors developed over a rich history. For almost 200 years, the Cajun people lived relatively unknown outside of New Orleans. It wasn’t until the 1980s that the world discovered their exceptional blend of spices and seafood. Today, we bring you this unique blend of flavors right here in North Carolina.

However, the Cajun style of cooking we enjoy today started centuries ago, far away in another country. Back in the early 1600s, a steady stream of French people settled in the Nova Scotia area of Canada. In the following years, rule continually switched between the French and English. For most of this time, these French colonists, Acadians, maintained neutrality to keep the peace. However, escalating tensions between the French and English demanded an oath of allegiance to the King of England. This pledge included renouncing the Acadians’ religion and adopting the king’s religion.  When the Acadians refused, the English government seized farms, burned villages, and expelled the colonists.

The English government relocated many Acadians to France, the Caribbean, and along America’s east coast. Many of the exiles were unhappy and moved on to southern Louisiana, finding safety in Spanish rule. Settling West of New Orleans in the rural bayous, they thrived in relative isolation. They lived off the land, adapting their traditional dishes and using the staples on hand.

Aspects of Traditional Cajun Cooking

Generally, Cajun cooking reflects the traditional peasant-style meals of the French countryside. Customarily, these are hearty one-pot meals. The basis of Cajun cooking consists of onions, bell pepper, and celery. Additional seasonings include garlic, parsley, and scallions. While the nearby waters of the Gulf of Mexico and bayous provided the main ingredient, seafood. And because rice thrived in Louisiana’s climate, Cajuns incorporated it into many dishes as well.

Additionally, the area was rich in other cultures. Native Americans, Spaniards, Germans, and Italians were prevalent in the area and interacted with the Cajuns. These people shared their traditions influencing the Cajuns and their style of cooking. The results are a unique flavor symbolic of that area.

To honor their traditions, we’ve taken their recipes and developed our menu to include the best of Cajun cooking. Whether you’re in the mood for a low-country boil, jambalaya, or Po’ Boy, we can satisfy your craving. Why wait when you can order delicious food right now from our website. Be sure to choose the location first, since menus vary.

What is a Seafood Boil?

From the Gulf Coast, up the Eastern seaboard to New England, and along the Pacific coast, seafood boils are popular. Preparation and side dishes may vary from region to region, but the main ingredient is always some type of seafood. While the exact origin is unknown, most historians agree that the recipe derived from the Cajun people.

At Crazy Crab Seafood & Grill, we serve up the Triad’s best seafood boil. All our boils come with corn and potato. If you wish, you can add egg, sausage, or extra corn and potatoes. Then, choose your seafood from one of our combinations which have between 1-2 pounds of seafood. Or you can build your own from our many seafood selections. Choose from oysters, lobster tails, shrimp, clams, crawfish, black or green mussels, blue crab, Dungeness, King or Snow crab legs.

Next, choose your flavor. We offer garlic, lemon pepper, or Cajun. Can’t decide? We’ll combine all of them for a truly unique flavor. Finally, choose your spice level or no spice at all. Then, we cook up your unique combination of seafood and flavors to perfection. It’s tasty and messy. In fact, it’s a meal we recommend for you to dig in and get crazy.

What’s a Po’ Boy?

Travel around the city of New Orleans and you’re sure to come upon the Po’ Boy sandwich. While hot roast beef with gravy sandwiches are traditional, the sandwich varies among restaurants. Fried seafood is the most popular version, but you can also find hot or smoked sausage, ham & cheese, and hamburger.

The name of the sandwich originated with the creators of the tasty meal, Clovis and Benjamin Martin. During the streetcar strike of 1929 in New Orleans, the brothers served strikers with the sandwich. When a striking worker came for the free meal, the brothers would exclaim, “Here comes another poor boy!” And so, the name Po’ Boy became associated with the iconic sandwich.

Our mouthwatering versions will satisfy your craving. Served on crusty French bread and piled high with lettuce, tomato, and our very own zesty remoulade sauce. Currently, we are offering this sandwich at our Greensboro locations.

Our Fried Seafood Dishes Will Have You Coming Back for More!

Walk into any crab shack or seafood restaurant and you’re sure to find fried seafood platters on the menu. Crunchy on the outside, light and juicy on the inside, perfectly cooked fried seafood dishes are hard to beat. However, not all restaurants have perfected the art of frying fish. If it’s not fried correctly, your fish will be tough, leathery, and sodden with grease.

At Crazy Crab Seafood & Grill, we’ve spent 15 years traveling through coastal towns learning the art of fish frying. Taking into consideration the types of oil, temperature, and flavors of our fish, we’ve perfected the fried seafood dish. Our savory, aromatic fried platters are unparalleled for crispness and flavor.

Whether you’re in the mood for seafood options like a fried oyster, fried shrimp, or fried catfish platter, you’ll enjoy every scrumptious bite. And for our non-seafood patrons, we have a fried chicken tender platter. Crunchy, succulent, and fried to perfection, we know you’ll be back for more. Order yours today at our Big Tree Way or New Garden locations.

We’re Still Serving Our Delectable Desserts!

Nothing finishes off a great meal better than a sweet and delectable dessert. At both of our Greensboro locations, we’re still serving up our famous confections. Tantalize your taste buds with one of our sweet treats. Pick out your favorite and we’ll have it ready with your meal.

Are you crazy about beignets? Square pieces of deep-fried dough, beignets have a light hollow center. We cover ours with powdered sugar and serve them with chocolate dipping sauce. Or perhaps you’re in the mood for the sugary caramelized taste of Bananas Foster. A classic New Orleans dessert, our version is a cheesecake with the fresh taste of bananas. Maybe your mouth is watering for that beloved sweet and tart southern favorite, key lime pie. Just add it to your order. Your taste buds will thank us later. Currently, desserts are only available at our Greensboro locations.
