Nice Can Sometimes Be Boring
There are many seafood boil restaurants out there. However, Crazy Crab is not your typical place. You know the one we’re talking about when you come in, sit down, order your food and wait. The guests are subdued, the lights are low, and the music is softly playing in the background. Your food arrives and you place your napkin on your lap, pick up your knife and fork and begin eating. The conversations are polite and the waiter is pleasant.
All that is great. However, is it memorable? Depends. Was the service outstanding? Did the menu catch your eye? Was the atmosphere fun? Yes, the evening was nice. However, wasn’t it just like one of the many dozen other seafood restaurants you’ve experienced? Do you want to come back and relive the same thing over or are you looking for a truly unique dining experience? Sometimes, nice can be boring.

The Difference Is in the Details
For the past 15 years, the team at Crazy Crab spent endless hours researching and traveling through Louisiana and the coastal southeast. Their goal was to perfect Southern-style recipes and to be able to present them in an authentic way. In other words, they don’t just want their food to be good, they expect it to be great. That’s why they were willing to put in years and years of work before building their seafood restaurants.
What Can You Order?
Have you ever tried a restaurant only to be disappointed in their menu? You sit down, glance over their options and realized that nothing appeals to you? You could leave, but that proves to be a bit of an awkward situation. So, instead, you randomly select something only to be disappointed when your stew arrives and there is too much garlic and not enough sauce.
At Crazy Crab, the possibilities are endless! We offer a wide variety of seafood dishes including fresh shrimp, crab legs, lobster tails, mussels, oysters, crawfish, and other types of shellfish. In addition, we also offer steaks, hamburgers, rice, pasta, desserts, and other side dishes. While all these dishes are mouthwatering, their seafood boils are perhaps their most requested orders.
What Is a Seafood Boil?
Put simply, a seafood boil is a one-dish meal, with a variety of vegetables and the seafood of your choosing. For a standard seafood boil, you begin with potatoes, corn, sausage, butter, garlic, and shellfish, then you throw it all in a pot of boiling water and cook away! While we have no exact date of origin, we do know that seafood boils started in the 1700s when the Cajuns migrated from the Maritime regions of Canada. When they arrived, they brought with them their culinary tradition of a seafood boil.
Moreover, the name “boil” is also considered a generic name for meals served at big parties, family gatherings and festivals that serve seafood as the main dish. Because they are fun, seafood boils are a big crowd-pleaser. The ingredients in the boil and the seasoning depend on the location. For example, in the Louisiana and Southern Gulf region, seafood boils often consist of crab with cayenne pepper, hot sauce, salt, lemons, and bay leaves in the seasoning. Or, Italian salad dressing, ketchup, or a mixture of both is also a popular choice. Meanwhile, in the New England area, very little or no seasoning is preferred, although beer is sometimes mixed in with the ingredients.
A Crazy Crab Seafood Boil is a Dish to Remember
Crazy Crab believes in personalized seafood boils. Thus, it’s not one size fits all but rather, it’s your way fits you! Each bowl comes with red potatoes, fresh corn, sausage, and a boiled egg. Next, you pick your seafood ingredients. Do you want fresh shrimp, oysters, mussels, crawfish, crab legs, or clams? Since there are so many choices, the food combos are endless! Create your own recipe for success! Hence, you can visit Crazy Crab dozens of times and never get bored.
Once you have your seafood chosen, it’s time to select your flavors and spice level. Pick from garlic, lemon pepper, or Cajun seasonings. Lastly, choose how spicy you want your food. Our spice levels go from non-spicy to extra-hot for those feeling daring and adventurous! Once your food order is in, you can sit back and relax until it arrives fresh out of the pot.
What Happens When Your Seafood Boil Arrives?
The door to the kitchen opens and your waiter walks out with your steaming hot seafood boil. “Enjoy,” they say as they set the seafood boil in front of you. Along with the seafood, you’re also given rubber gloves and a Crazy Crab bib. These “tools” are necessary to ensure that you can “dig in” and have fun while keeping your clothes clean and grease-free. You open the bag and breathe in the delicious aroma of boiled potatoes, corn, sausage, and eggs. Hmm, what to try first? Everything smells so delicious! From here, things really get fun and messy! You’re encouraged to literally dig in with your hands and eat. It doesn’t matter how messy you get, it’s the Crazy Crab culture! Kids are so excited that they don’t realize that they are eating a healthy meal!
We Put the Crab in Crazy Crab!
Crab is in our name so of course, we sell crab, crab, crab and more crab! Yep, you read that right. We sell four different kinds of crab: Blue Crab, Dungeness Crab, King Crab, and Snow Crab. While there are dozens of other types, these are the most popular and the most delicious choices for a crab boil. Besides their taste, crab meat is also incredibly nutritious and has many vitamins and minerals. Furthermore, it’s rich in Omega 3 fats. Therefore, crab not only tastes great but is also healthy for you! Basically, it’s a win-win situation.
First up is blue crab. The blue crab is the smallest crab on this list. However, while small, it does not skimp on flavor. In fact, it’s well-known due to its sweet flavor. Typically, it’s found along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts but is most famously served at crab houses in the Chesapeake Bay area. Second is the Dungeness Crab. These creatures live in the waters of the West Coast. This crab is meaty and large, capable of feeding up to two adults.
Next is the King Crab. As you would expect from the name, this crab is big. Its shell is thick and often requires a mallet to crack to get the meat inside. King Crabs also have a short harvesting season, which drives their cost up. Finally, we have Snow Crabs which are also large. However, unlike King Crabs, Snow Crabs have thinner shells that you can easily break with your hands. You can enjoy these species in a crab boil or in another meal. The choice is up to you!

Moreover, the friendly staff will attend to your every need, striving hard to ensure your night is a success. Lastly, no meal is complete without the perfect beverage! “I love this place”
“Unique food, nice ambiance. Really good place to eat, and different. I highly recommend. I really like the shrimp scampi. But the bread is also awesome.” – Gary H
“Great seafood lunch”
“Crazy crab is very informal and most people wear a lobster bib & some use rubber gloves. My husband & I had a boiled pot with 2 lobster tails & snow crab claws. It came with corn on the cob, sausage chunks, little red potatoes & an egg. It was delicious, everything was steamed in a big plastic bag & was all cooked right. It is very sloppy & delicious.” – Marla C
And that’s just two out of our many 5-star reviews. Quality comes naturally at Crazy Crab.
